6.07, 204…
6.07, 204 mph, this morning in Vegas. I cannot tell you how much I needed that.
It seems all weekend we have been working out bugs. Yesterday’s three runs were sundry exercises in frustration. On our first pass Saturday, the car picked up the front end and made a move towards the guardwall; the second pass was aborted at half track after the shift light came on early; on our last pass, the clutch grabbed the motor and the car smoked the tires at the hit.
So, we took the shift light out the car and completely disassembled and then re-assembled the clutch.
The result? A 6.07 this morning, the quickest elapsed time McCain’s Bomb Squad has ever turned. And I shut it off at 1000’.
After the run, my conversation with Roland went as follows:
“I got nothing to report.” I say.
“Smooth as glass,” Roland says.
“Yep.”
“Okay.” –MF
