On the eve of Mendy Fry and the McCain’s Bomb Squad appearance at this weekend’s Winternationals in Pomona (as well as in anticipation of the team’s competition debut at the upcoming March Meet), we found it timely and appropriate to find a feature on the Heritage Funny Car movement online. Indeed, on the MoparMax website, majordomo Jeff Burk writes, “Nostalgia racing is enjoying a resurgence in the drag racing business…(snip)… On the West Coast the Hot Rod Heritage series of races is enjoying success, and group of promoters and track owners in the Midwest have banded together to support a six-race series of Nostalgia racing featuring an AA/FC points championship.”

Herr Burk continues to say that, “A good many of the Nostalgia cars are Mopar-bodied and Mopar-powered.”

With that in mind, amongst the entires examined by Burk and his staff are the McCain’s Bomb Squad ’73 Plymouth Duster, as well as the previous entry piloted by Mendy Fry, the Future Flash Charger…. beyond that, there is a nifty cutaway of the Lil’ Nate ‘Cuda, info on and images of the venerable Ramchargers, Ed “Ace” McCulloch’s Duster, and Don Schumacher’s “Stardust” machines (include the update by Justin Grant), plus much more….
